Named in honour of Anatoly Kapitonovich Boldyrev (Анато́лий Капито́нович Бо́лдырев) (14 (26) October 1883, Grayvoron, Kursk Province, Russian Empire – 25 March 1946, Magadan Region, RSFSR, USSR), crystallographer, mineralogist and mathematician. He was founder and director of the Fedorov Institute of Crystallography, Mineralogy, Petrography and Ore Deposits. He also was Head of the Departments of Mineralogy and Crystallography of the Leningrad Mining Institute.
