Named for Erika Pohl-Ströher (18 January 1919 - 18 December 2016), German-Swiss chemist, biologist and entrepreneur (Wella company), for donating a significant portion of her huge collection of outstanding mineral specimens (80.000 pieces) to a foundation (Pohl-Ströher Mineralienstiftung) to allow public access to it and scientific studies on it. Highlights of the collection are now shown in the Terra Mineralia museum in Freiberg, Germany.
