Lanthanum-dominant analogue of wakefieldite-(Ce), wakefieldite-(Y) and wakefieldite-(Nd). The original wakefieldite (renamed to wakefieldite-(Y) in 1987) was named for the lake (originally called Lake Wakefield, now called Lac Saint-Pierre) near its type locality, the Evans-Lou mine.
