Plagionite microcrystals have been detected in association with galena and stibnite from quartz veins embedded in Permo-Carboniferous phyllites, evidenced during excavation of the San Nicolò road tunnel (Orlandi, 2011).

Pisolitic aragonite (“pelagosite”) has been observed as blackish varnish-like encrustations on the littoral carbonate rocks, mainly at the Bergeggi Marine Cave.
