Metamorphosed bedded manganese ore in Paleozoic sediments (metachert). Several orebodies, including the largest known of this type in Japan: 65x58x13m.
The mine was started in 1925 and closed in 1966. (1952 production 34,000 tons ore of 39% Mn, mostly from rhodochrosite.)
