Abandoned uranium mine with minor uranium mineralisation in rhyolite.

Discovered in 1956 and mined in an open pit until 1965.

The ore processing plant was built in 1958, started in 1961 and remained active until 1989; it processed ore from the Menzenschwand locality (Black Forest), and waste materials such as contaminated building rubble and soil from the demolition of Nukem's Hanau fuel element factory were also treated.

The operating company, the Gewerkschaft Brunhilde ("Brunhilde trade union"), had to stop operations in 1989 because the permitted limit values for radon emissions from the waste dumps were exceeded and as a result the company filed for bankruptcy. The company premises were renovated between 1990 and 2000.

Today, the dump is removed, and the whole area landscaped.
