Complesso Vulcanico di Roccamonfina, Caserta, Campania, Italia


Partially dissected stratovolcano with an elevation of just over 1,000 m and a basal diameter of c. 18 km. A summit caldera has a diameter of around 6 km and is breached to the east; a smaller caldera lies just north of the main one. The edifice overlies Pleistocene lacustrine sediments which overlie Cenozoic arenites and marls and Mesozoic limestones (Giannetti & Luhr 1983).
