Type:
Mine (Abandoned) - last checked 2020
Köppen climate type:
A copper and tin mine in the northwestern part of the Botallack sett. There are several walled shafts and quite extensive dumps remaining west of the Southwest Coast Path and just opposite to the now levelled dump of Wheal Hen. Both mines were later incorporated with the Botallack Mine.
NOTE:
Mineral collectors are advised that all the dumps associated with this mine, together with many other mine dumps along this stretch of coastline, are part of the Aire Point to Carrick Du Site of Special Scientific Interest and consequently prior written consent is required from not only The National Trust as landowner and but also Natural England before samples can be removed.

Russell (1920) reports phenakite from Stamps and Jowl Zawn, at the foot of Roscommon Cliff, under Wheal Cock, but not from Wheal Cock itself. References: Russell, Arthur (1911) On the occurrence of Phenacite in Cornwall. Geochronology
Mineralization age: Late/Upper Triassic : 231 ± 3 MaImportant note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
