Formula:
(Ti4+Fe2+)Ti4+3O9
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named after asteroid 4 Vesta. Vestaite was found in a meteorite of the howardite-eucrite-diogenite (HED) clan, all thought to have originated from the crust of the asteroid Vesta.
The Ti4+-Fe2+ analogue of schreyerite. A shock-generated mineral first found in a meteorite.
