Member of:
Name:
Named for being the OH-dominant analogue of edgrewite. The root name honors mineralogist Edward Sturgis Grew (b. 1944, Boston, Massachusetts, USA), University of Maine, whose research specializes in the granulite-facies rocks of Antarctica and in the minerals of Li, Be and B. Dr. Grew has also chaired several IMA nomenclature sub-committees, including the garnet group and the sapphirine group, as well as served as associate editor for the American Mineralogist, Canadian Mineralogist, Mineralogical Magazine and European Journal of Mineralogy.
OH-dominant analogue of edgrewite. Edgrewite and hydroxyledgrewite form a continuous series between the F and (OH) dominant end members, where the analysed samples from the type locality show between 74% and 31% of the F dominant end member (edgrewite). Members of the edgrewite-hydroxyledgrewite are structural analogues of clinohumite-hydroxylclinohumite series.

Type Occurrence of Hydroxyledgrewite
General Appearance of Type Material:
Occur sparingly in zones in a matrix of hydroxylellestadite. Largely altered to jennite in places with admixed zeophyllite and trabzonite, and are preserved as elongate relics mostly 0.1–0.4 mm long in the central part of atoll-like pseudomorphs
