According to a district mining map dating to 1845, the Carharrack Mine sett is a roughly triangular shape and extends from the north-eastern side of Carharrack village, bounded by the B3298 on its western side, the southern boundary being approximately indicated by an unnamed road located to the north of Consols Road and separated from Wheal Jewell to the north by the stream in the valley.

The apex of the sett to the north-east meets the western side of Wheal Maid Mine, with which Carharrack Mine was worked at one stage.

It would appear that there are no known extant plans of the mine, although it is noted that the upper levels are located within the killas and the granite (noted to contain green and purple fluorite) is encountered at depth.

The mine is noted for being the type locality for the arsenate minerals olivenite and pharmacosiderite.

Little is now to be seen of this mine with the majority of the shafts having been obscured and areas of dumps reclaimed as rough farm land.

Although located near Carharrack, only a part of the Carharrack sett is actually in current Carharrack civil parish, it lies mostly within the current Gwennap CP.

One of a number of small mines amalgamated under the name of Consolidated Mines in 1780. (checking for verification)

St Day United was the name given to Poldice and Carharrack Mines together with Wheal Maid when they amalgamated in 1852.

In 1864, Wheals Unity, Gorland, Creegbrawse and Penkevil were added to the group and in 1870 the group's name changed to Poldice Mines.
