Epithermal gold-silver veins with quartz-calcite gangue in Miocene andesite, owned by Mitsui Mining (1958 production: 804 Kg Au, grade 5.3g/t ; 6.8 tons Ag, grade 47g/t.) low-sulfidation type Kushikino and Arakawa veins
Mine now closed. Famous among collectors for its superb calcite "butterfly twins".
About eight million metric tons of ore (average 6.7 g/t Au and 61 g/t Ag) have been mined. The Kushikino mine consists of more than twenty gold and silver-bearing quartz-calcite veins. Many of them are mined along the strike for more than 1,000 meters.
