Gonçalo is a parish with an area of 27.10 km² in the municipality of Guarda.
It is located on one of the NE slopes of Serra da Estrela and is 22 km away from the municipality’s headquarters.
It was a priory of the royal patronage and belonged to the municipality of Valhelhas, which was abolished on October 24, 1855.
The seat of the parish, the village of Gonçalo, was elevated to the category of town on June 21, 1995.
The parish includes places such as Castelo dos Mouros, Fraga, Gonçalo (village), Quintas de Avereiro, Quintas das Seixinhas, Cruz da Pedra, Quinta de Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia, Seixo Amarelo, among others.
