The Fujiashan W deposit is a large W skarn deposit located in the Edong ore district, situated on the eastern flank of the Lingxiang intrusion. The deposit has proven metal resources of 10.55 Mt @ 0.27 % WO3, 1.4 Mt @ 0.77 % Cu, and 0.58 Mt @ 0.1 % Mo. Tungsten mineralization is primarily hosted in skarn zones developed along the contact between the Cretaceous granodioritic porphyry and Upper Permian carbonate units of the Maokou and Qixia formations. Three principal types of mineralization are recognized at the Fujiashan deposit: W, Cu, and Mo mineralization. Tungsten mineralization is dominated by scheelite, which is widely distributed in skarn, quartz-sulfide veins, and late-stage carbonate veins. Molybdenum mineralization is locally developed within garnet skarn, where molybdenite occurs as veinlets or disseminations that cut across or replace garnet, pyroxene, and scheelite. Copper mineralization is spatially associated with W mineralization.
Orebodies are primarily found within the garnet skarn and minor diopside skarn in the contact zone. The shape, orientation, and size of these orebodies are strictly determined by this contact zone, with orebodies typically occurring in lens-shaped or tabular forms. Hydrothermal alterations at Fujiashan are characterized by the presence of an overall high proportions of garnet skarn, subordinate diopside skarn, localized epidote skarn, and widespread pyrite, carbonate minerals, and chlorite. Additionally, the alteration of the granodiorite porphyry includes potassic alteration, sericitization, argillic alteration, and silicification. Five distinct alteration zones can be identified, extending from the intrusion outwards to the sedimentary rocks, including (1) sericitization-silicification-potassic alteration of granodiorite porphyry, (2) argillic alteration of granodiorite porphyry, (3) chlorite-pyrite-quartz-calcite alteration zone (after garnet skarn), (4) garnet ± diopside skarn zone, (5) vein-type garnet skarn altered marble zone.
