Formula:
Mg5Al(AlSi3O10)(OH)8
Used by Hey (1954) in his widely used, formal classification of chlorites, for ones with Mg/(Mg+Fe) = 0.75-0.5 and Si = 5.6-6.2 atoms per 8 tetrahedral sites, but now considered a variety of clinochlore.

Originally spelled pyknochlorite (from German Pyknochlorit).
