A laccolithic body 800 M diameter.

It intruded into sediments of the Nama Basin and is hosted by flat-lying Rosenhof Member shales with interbedded quartzite layers of the Haribes Member (Fish River Subgroup, Nama Group). The Blue Hill is a laccolith-type intrusion, several hundred meters long, up to 45 m high and widely covered by calcrete and baked shales.
