The mineralization of the República Romana mine in Sierra Almagrera corresponds to epigenetic processes of a hydrothermal nature that generated seams in the fractures of the Paleozoic rocks of the Nevado Filábride and the Alpujárride. Locally graphite micaschists and schists with intercalated quartzites. The veins, as in the whole range, are mainly made of siderite that contains iron, lead, zinc sulphides and some antimony and copper in small proportions, with barite as gangue. The surface of the seams is highly branched and oxidized, with iron and manganese oxides and some sulphates such as jarosite and gypsum being found.
