Edwards is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The village is named after Edward McCormack, brother of the founder.

Until January 1, 2013, the Town of Edwards contained a village also called Edwards. The former village dissolved on December 31, 2012. The town is in the southwestern part of the county, south of Canton.

Description: "Segeler (1961) mistakenly referred to the manganoan cummingtonites from Talcville, New York as "tirodite," because the yellow amphibole from Tirodi contains substantial amounts of Mn and Mg. Unfortunately, Segeler's misidentification of manganoan cummingtonite as tirodite received the blessings of the IMA Commission on New Mineral Names". (Ghose & Hexiong 1989). Tirodite was discredited in the 1997 paper on amphibole nomenclature as a synonym of Parvowinchite. Thus specimens of manganocummingtonite labelled as tirodite was erronously relabelled as "parvowinchite". There are no evidence of significant Na content in these amphibioles.

Description: Mike Hawkins, curator of the mineral collection at the NY State Museum wrote: "... lazurite from the St. Joe Edwards Mine found in the 1970's. I think it is the intermixed diopside that fluoresces blue-white. The Edwards mineral was originally described as hauynite, but modern analysis shows lazurite. They are very difficult to tell apart with sophisticated tests."
