3 small areas of extrusive, basic alkaline igneous rocks in the vicinity of the town and c. 10 km to the NE around the villages of Lutynia, Gmina Lądek-Zdrój, Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland and Szwedzkie Szańce basanite quarry, Lutynia, Gmina Lądek-Zdrój, Kłodzko County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.
All 3 localities were formerly quarried, are the source of mantle xenoliths and probably formerly comprised a single volcanic occurrence (Birkenmajer et al. 2002; Matusiak-Małek et al. 2010).
The local geosites include mica schists occurrences at Mts. Twierdza (where basalts also occur) and Zielnik, where up to 2 cm long doubly-terminated andalusite crystals occur.
The so-called Lądek diamonds = six-sided pyramidal quartz crystals that occur in the direct vicinity (e.g., E slopes of Mt. Modzel which is otherwise known of basalts; vicinity of Mt. Twierdza) and at some localities around. A "star-like" quartz aggregates, up to 3 cm in diameter, are reported from Mt. Twierdza.
