Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

Molybdenite-bearing quartz-calcite dykes, hosted in metamorphic rocks.
The Huangshui’an Mo-REE deposit, located in Xiong’ershan area of the Sourthern NCC (Songxian County, Henan Province), is one of the typical carbonatitic vein Mo-REE deposits in the eastern Qinling. Molybdenum metal reserves estimated for this deposit are up to 400,000 tons (average grade of 0.062 %), with REEs and Pb as major by-products. The main geological units in the area have a dual structure of cratonic crystalline basement and cap layer, with angular unconformity contact. The basement is composed of metamorphic rocks from the Shibangou Formation of Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic Taihua Group, with the lithology of biotite plagio-gneiss and hornblende plagio-gneiss.

The Huangshui'an Mo-Au-Pb (400,000 t Mo, average grade: 0.062 %, Zhang et al., 2019; 3.8 t Au, average grade: 6.1 g/t; 142,000 t Pb, average grade: 0.288 %) polymetallic deposit. The Huangshui'an compose four ore section, including Toudaogou-Naogou, Mutougou, Huogudonggou, and Pangxiegou. Outcropped stratum in the deposit is the Shibangou Formation of the Neoarchean Taihua Group. The main lithology is hornblende plagioclase gneiss and biotite plagioclase gneiss, followed by plagioclase amphibole gneiss, biotite amphibole plagioclase gneiss and migmatite. The Huangshui'an deposit comprises eight gold ore bodies. The morphology and production of the ore bodies are strictly controlled by the fractures in the area. The most favorable space for mineralization is within the fracture zone. The ore bodies have a simple morphology, being vein-like or lenticular, and their production is stable with little change along the strike and tendency.
Four Au-related mineralization stages are recognized at the Huangshui'an. They are, from early to late, quartz-K-feldspar stage (I), quartz-pyrite-gold stage (II), which is divided into two sub-stages, namely, pyrite-native gold sub-stage (IIA) and gold-telluride-bismuthide sub-stage (IIB), quartz-pyrite-polymetallic sulfides-oxides stage (III), and calcite-quartz-chlorite stage (IV). The hydrothermal alteration related to Au mineralization is well-developed and includes silicification, K-feldspathization, sericitization, pyritization, chloritization and carbonatization.
