In addition to the extensively exposed Holocene strata, the other rocks in the area include the Xilin hot complex, quartz diorite, cryptoexplosive breccia and buried quartz porphyry. The Xilin hot complex is a combination of brown amphibole–plagioclase and biotite–plagioclase gneiss, both intensely metamorphosed and deformed.

The deposit contains a total resource/reserve of 34.75 Mt of ore, with 90,000 t of SnO2 at an average grade of 0.85 %, 688,300 t of Li2O at an average grade of 1.25 %, 369,700 t of Rb2O at an average grade of 0.35 %, and 2 Mt of Pb + Zn + Cu. Orebodies within the Weilasituo deposit have been subdivided into three types based on textural relationships and metal contents: (i) disseminated Sn–Rb–Zn orebodies in the upper portion of the porphyry; (ii) breccia-hosted Li–Rb orebodies in the cryptoexplosive breccia above the porphyry; and (iii) quartz vein-hosted Sn orebodies within cracks and faults in the upper and outer portions of the porphyry.

The Weilasituo Li–polymetallic deposit is associated with a quartz porphyry with crypto-explosive breccia-type Li mineralisation at the top of the deposit and vein-type Sn-Mo-W-Zn polymetallic mineralisation cutting through the breccia pipe. Its location is the western slope of the southern GXR in the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). Zinnwaldite is a Li(Rb)-bearing mineral produced in the crypto-explosive breccia pipe during greisenisation.

The units comprise Palaeozoic metamorphic complexes, mainly consisting of biotite plagioclase gneiss and rare amphibole plagioclase gneiss. These complexes are the main host rocks for the ore mineralization. The Weilasituo deposit consists of 35 orebodies (2 outcrops and 33 blind orebodies). The lengths of the main orebodies range from 368 to 1057 m, their depths vary from 254 to 950 m, and their thickness ranges from 1 to 4 m. The average grades for zinc and copper are 1.22 to 6.87% and 0.75 to 1.66%, respectively. The orebodies occur as veins or lenses, mostly trending EW, but some show NNE trend, with angle of dips of 8 to 35°.

Two mines, one copper-zinc and a tin polymetallic mine.
