Sedimentary-metamorphic magmatic-hydrothermal superimposition type gold deposit, hosted in Middle-Late Proterozoic metamorphic rocks.

Exposed strata of the Wangmushan mining area include the Middle to Late Proterozoic Mamianshan Group Longbeixi Formation metamorphic rocks (middle and upper member) and Jurassic Chishui Formation volcanic rocks (lower member). A total of 19 gold ore bodies, 8 copper ore bodies, and some localized zinc ore bodies have been delineated in the area. The gold ore bodies, with lengths of 100 – 425 m and thicknesses of 0.80 – 11.51 m, are mainly distributed between elevations of 96 m and 365 m. They trend NW to NNW, dipping NE to NNE at angles of 23°–56°. Both gold and copper ore bodies generally exhibit a northwest-southeast plunge. Vertically, the mineralization exhibits a distinct zoning sequence, progressing downward from zinc at the top, through gold and gold-copper, to copper at depth. Gold grades in the ore bodies are variable, ranging from 1.16 to 9.03 g/t, with local zones notably exceeding 20 g/t. Additionally, the Wangmushan area is enriched in pyrite, which also holds significant economic value. Mineralization occurred in two distinct stages characterized by crosscutting and overprinting relationships. The earlier stage is dominated by coarse-grained, massive pyrite, while the later stage is marked by copper-zinc mineralization. Two-stage mineralization is also observed in volcanic rocks; however, unlike in metamorphic rocks, there is no obvious crosscutting relationship, and mineralization predominantly exhibits an overprinting texture. Gold mineralization also developed in two stages in both volcanic and metamorphic rocks. The paragenesis of mineral assemblages in the pre-, early-, late-, and post-ore stages.
