About Fault-brecciaHide

A medium-to-coarse grained cataclasite or a friction breccia, containing >30% visible rock fragments, which can be many metres in size, down to microscopic. The assemblage of angular to subangular fragments results from the crushing, shattering, or shearing of rocks during movement on a fault. It is distinguished by its cross-cutting relations, by the presence of fault gouge, and by blocks and walls with slickensides.
