St Gotthard-Straßentunnel (Nordabschnitt), Göschenen, Reusstal
Road tunnel connecting Göschenen (Canton Uri) with Airolo (Canton Tessin); part of the Swiss National road A2. The longest road tunnel in the Alps, constructed in 1970-1980.
The construction of a second tunnel tube was approved in 2016.
The tunnel's south section is a separate locality.
Known for outstanding specimens found in Alpine-type clefts (in gneiss) during the construction works.
