Ag in the M2 site consists of a [Ag6]4+ cluster that presumably exhibits metal-metal bonding; the "missing" M2 charge is compensated by a vacancy in the S2 site; thus, there are only 12 S atoms per formula unit, not 13.

The name kenoargentotetrahedrite-(Fe) partially supplants the former name freibergite for Fe>Zn members. The new name follows the revised nomenclature for the tetrahedrite group (Biagioni et al 2020).
