Named by A. Ertl, I.A. Baksheev, G. Giester, C.L. Lengauer, V.Y. Prokofiev, and L.D. Zorina in 2015 in honor of Dr Ferdinando Bosi (1967-), researcher at the University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy, an expert in crystallography and mineralogy of tourmalines and spinels.
The Al (Z-site exchange) analogue of povondraite and Fe3+ (Y-site exchange) analogue of chromo-alumino-povondraite and vanadio-oxy-dravite. [6]Fe3+3 → [6]Al3 substitution describes its relation to oxy-dravite.
