Name:
After the type locality, the Michael Mine at Weiler, near Lahr, Black Forest, Germany (but from where it may not in fact exist).
Originally considered a synonym of arsenogorceixite, because the exact sulphate content was unknown. It was redefined in 1987.

An iron(III) analogue is known: Unnamed (Fe-analogue of Weilerite and Ba-analogue of Oberwolfachite).
