Lower Tertiary hydrothermal-reworked uranium deposit of so-called C-Si-pelite type, hosted in black siliceous and carbonaceous shales of the Upper Permian Dangchong formation that are interstratified with quartz sandstone and thin coal beds. The irregular breccia-vein ore bodies are separately hosted in the cores of three secondary anticlines. They consist of uraniferous quartz veins and fragments of black silicified shale and sandstone that are cemented by quartz and minor calcite.
Located in the Xiang river (Xiang Jiang) valley near Chenzhou. Jinyinzhai was the first Chinese uranium mine. It was started in 1962.
