The Dibaonamugang lithocap (Dibao lithocap) is the largest exposed hydrothermal system with an areal extent exceeding 10 km2 in the Duolong Ore District; however, the associated potential porphyry–epithermal mineralization has yet to be identified. The Dibao lithocap shows a typical high–sulfidation epithermal alteration mineral assemblage and zonation pattern. Geochemical data of altered rocks and alunite strongly suggest the presence of a porphyry–high sulfidation epithermal metallogenic system situated beneath and to the southeast of the Dibao lithocap. These results imply a high probability of discovering independent high–sulfidation epithermal Au (Cu) deposits within both the Duolong Ore District and broader terrestrial volcanic–covered region of the Bangong–Nujiang Metallogenic Belt. The Dibao lithocap can be subdivided into five zones, progressing from the interior to the exterior (Zones I to V). Moreover, a chlorite–epidote distal alteration developed in the strata (J1q) at the periphery of the Dibao lithocap.
