Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

The island of Flemsøy-Skuløy ( 7x 2.5km) contains both a UHP (the nothwestern part of the island)and a HP domain divided by the Åkne mylonite. The UHP domain shows a great diversity of eclogite facies petrologies. The bulk of the bedrock consists of high-grade gneisses, but also gabbro and a small mantle derived garnet peridotite are present. The gneiss (Ulla gneiss) is heterogenous and contains layers and boudins of different rock types, including eclogites. The gneiss is deformed and show complex folding patterns because of different properties of the different layers. The peak PT conditions for the gneiss has been extensively debated, but it appears now to a consensus that also the Ulla gneiss have seen UHP conditions.
