A former underground Pb-Ag-Cu-Au group of mines located in the NE¼SE¼SE¼ sec. 8, T.18S., R.17E., 3 miles SW of the Total Wreck Mine and 2 miles east of Davidson Canyon, and adjoining the southern part of the Verde Queen property, on land of unknown status. Claims were located in this area as early as the late 1870's and early 1880's. Owned at times, or in part, by the Verde Queen Mining Co. (1902- ); M.P. Hilton; Jacobs; Calumet and Arizona Mining Co. (circa 1927); and the Tucson Ore Milling Co.
Mineralization is irregular replacement orebodies of lead carbonate ore with minor galena in faulted Paleozoic limestone close to the contact with Laramide quartz monzonite intrusive.
The principal mines are in the Snyder Hill formation, and smaller deposits have been found in limestone members of the Andrada formation. The beds strike eastward and dip at an average of 40ºS. They are cut by several northwestward-trending faults which may represent tear breaks, and are intruded by dikes of northeasterly trend. In addition, many small north-south normal faults, northeasterly fissures, and bedding-plane faults are present. The exposed rocks are interpreted as part of an overthrust mass.
Ore occurs as pipe-like bodies and irregular replacements. Apparently the ore solutions came in along northeasterly fissures and were localized by northerly and northwesterly breaks.
Workings include relatively shallow openings. This mine produced some 350 tons of ore averaging about 8% Pb, 2 oz. Ag/T, and minor Cu and Au in 1935 and 1946-1947.
