Disseminated scheelite mineralization bound to banded calc-silicate rocks which are intercalated in sillimanite paragneisses. This series could be traced across a length of about 5 km. The mineralization seems to be strata-bound and hence synsedimentary.
The richest mineralization was observed in an area of approx. 0.1 km2 N and E of the small village Wietzen, at and near the “Saubigl” or “Saubühel” hill (691 m). It was investigated by trenching and core drilling (Göd, 1981) and subsequently by a more detailed investigation (Beran et al., 1985).

The scheelite grains are up to about 1 mm in size. They occur only in a dark type of calc-silicate rock alternating with a light type. The dark type consists mainly of hedenbergite (Fe:Mg ~ 3:1), scapolite and quartz, while the light type contains mainly diopside-hedenbergite (Fe:Mg around 1:1) and scapolite, sometimes with additional, highly variable amounts of K-feldspar and plagioclase (An40-50).

A similar mineralisation occurs at Streitwiesen.
