The exposed strata in Aerhada comprise the Upper Devonian Angeryinwula Formation, the Upper Jurassic Manketouebo Formation, the Lower Cretaceous Baiyingaolao Formation, and the Quaternary sediments. The Angeryinwula Formation, with a thickness of 267–––2781 m, crops out in most of the deposit and is the main host rock for the Pb–Zn ore bodies. Three ore belts (No. I, II, and III) have been delineated from north to south, with lengths > 3000 m, widths of 300–1500 m, and maximum depths of 700 m. The No. I ore belt is the most economically valuable, comprising 16 major industrial ore bodies (I-1, I-2, I-3, I-4, I-5, I-6, I-7, I-10, I-53, I-55, I-82, I-83, I-84, I-85, I-19, and I-123) and represents 85 % of the total metal reserves. The ore bodies, which occur as veins, lenses, and disconnected pods, mainly fill the NW-trending fractures. Local mineralization has also been developed as stockwork in wall rocks with fine-grained sulfides.
The mineralization can be divided into three stages: (I) quartz-arsenopyrite-pyrite, (II) quartz-sphalerite-galena, and (III) fluorite-calcite-pyrite. Specifically, the Aerhada mine has proven reserves of 0.51 Mt Pb at 2.32 % and 0.69 Mt Zn at 3.25 %.
