Triassic carbonate-hosted, syngenetic exhalative Mn-ores affected by retrograde Alpine metamorphism.
The mine produced Fe-ore from 1825 to 1845, and small-scale mining for asbestos took place around 1880.
In 1917, the mine became the only deposit of Val Ferrera to be mined for Mn, producing 145 tonnes of Mn ore between 1918 and 1920.
