Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Sphalerite vs. Anorthite
Both zinc ore Sphalerite and calcium plagioclase feldspar Anorthite have perfect cleavage that will split cleanly if you hit them with a hammer, but only one can claim a larger split of your votes!

An iron ore district located 750 km from Dakar on the SE border of Senegal.
Reserves of 300 million tons of oxide ore and 250 million tons of primary magnetite. Nine major and 19 minor orebodies, distributed in a belt 65 km long and 15 km wide.

The Falémé iron district endo- and exoskarn deposits are located within the Falémé batholith, associated altered Bambadji Formation volcanic rocks, and westernmost parts of the Kofi series. In the skarns, proximal halos of calc-silicate alteration (actinolite-epidote-allanite-titanite ± clinopyroxene-garnet) overprint regional albitization. This is further overprinted by massive magnetite ± apatite ore. These sulfides are locally auriferous, typically containing < 0.5 g/t Au and rarely up to 3 g/t Au associated with trace amounts of Co-Ni-U–bearing phases.
