Name:
Named for outstanding Russian mineralogist Victor Ivanovich Vorob'yev (1875 - August 1906), conservator of the collection of minerals in the Geological Museum of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.
An alkali-beryl originally from the Lipovka Mine (Lipovskaya Mine; Lipovaya Mine), Lipovka pegmatite field, Rezh District, Central Urals, Urals Region, Russia.

The name has been applied to both colourless caesium-bearing beryls from the Urals and rose-coloured and colourless alkali-rich beryls from Madagascar. [Clark, 1993 - "Hey's Mineral Index"], see vorobyevite (of Lacroix).
