Named by E. Sokolova, Y. Abdu, F.C. Hawthorne, A.V. Stepanov, B.K. Bekenova, P.E. Kotel'nikov in 2009 in honor of Fernando Cámara (24 May 1967, Melilla, Spain - ) mineralogist, crystallographer, and professor at the University of Milan. He has a special interest in Ti-silicate minerals, amphiboles, and arrojadite- and cancrinite-group minerals.
Closely related to jinshajiangite and bafertisite.
