In allusion to its composition, being the Ce-analogue of the older species hingganite-(Y).
The Ce analogue of Hingganite-(Y).

The existence of a Ce-analogue was known for a long time and the name hingganite-(Ce) was in rather common use in the mineralogical literature, but it was only accepted as a valid species in 2004 (IMA2004-004) from Tahara, Hirukawa-mura, Gifu Prefecture, Japan (Miyawaki et al.2006).

Nd-dominant analogue is also known.
