Nepheline-syenite deposit. Also known as the Litchfield Sodalite Locality. The locality was discovered at least by 1845, and chemical analyses of the mineral were published by Charles Jackson, although he confused which minerals were reported. This is the locality for historical specimens of cancrinite and sodalite from Litchfield. It is also the type locality for hydronephelite, also called "white sodalite", now known as a mixture. Most of the specimens are found in float boulders and not in place. Finds extend into West Gardiner.

Description: Dennis Hill is the type locality for this mineral, but it has been shown to be a mixture of gibbsite, natrolite, and diaspore. Hydronephelite was once called "white sodalite" as it formed a rim on normal blue sodalite. It is also fluorescent in Shortwave UV.
