Santa Fiora has given the name to fiorite (Zappe, 1817), a botryoidal form of siliceous sinter described from some occurrences in the area between Castel del Piano and Santa Fiora (Santi, 1795; Thomson, 1795 and 1796; Pfaff, 1796; and other authors).
