Type:
Köppen climate type:
Metamorphic graphite deposit, with stratiform, layered, and lense-shaped orebodies in mudstone and dolomitic limestone of the Yuqing Formation (belonging to the upper Archean Mashan Group). The parental rock for the deposit is interpreted as organic-rich, terrestrial pyroclastic-carbonate rock that formed in a shallow marine facies. Their original sedimentary environment is interpreted as littoral plain-tide flat-lagoon system. The series underwent regional metamorphism of granulite-amphibolite facies.
