The T32+3 bauxite profile in Podlipa is lenticular, 25 m thick, and in a subvertical position. Bauxite was deposited in the karst paleo-relief. The footwall consists of Upper Ladinian dolomite. The bauxite has a brownish-reddish colour and a uniform oolitic texture throughout the profile. Ooids range from 100 to 800 μm in size. The ratio of ooids to matrix is between 30% and 70%. Clear traces of weathering, in the form of iron coatings, are visible throughout the profile. The hanging wall consists of Carnian clastic rocks (siltstone and marlstone) interlayered with thin limestone beds.
