Perros-Guirec (pronounced [pɛ.ʁos ɡi.ʁɛk]; Breton: Perroz-Gireg) is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in northwestern France. It has been a seaside resort since the end of the 19th century.
The largest part of Perros-Guirec consists of the granodiorite of Perros-Guirec, formed during the Cadomian orogeny 615 million years ago; in modern plate tectonics, it is considered part of the Pan-African orogeny. This orogeny has also formed dolerite intrusions.
The westernmost part (La Clarté) is formed by the pink granite of Ploumanac’h. This is 300 million years old and was formed at the end of the Variscan orogeny (also called the Hercynian orogeny). Here are the quarries where minerals can be found.
Those 2 units are separated by a small zone of Icartian gneiss, nearly 2 billion years old.
