The Weixi Sb-polymetallic orefield (∼30 km northwest of Weixi County) lies in the middle part of the Sanjiang ore belt, and between the Changdu and Lanping basin. The orefield contains over 20 small to medium Sb deposits/prospects, including the Shangnuluo, Baiji, Hagudi, Gepoluo, Aduodi, Shimenduo, Ananduotang, and Shaomidi, with over 200 thousand metric tonnes of Sb reserve. Local exposed strata are Devonian to Quaternary (Fig. 1c), comprising (from old to young): Devonian limestone and dolomite; Permian gneiss, granulite, and quartz/biotite schist; Permian slate intercalated with meta-sandstone, limestone, and andesite; Upper Triassic Shanglan Formation biotite-sericite schist intercalated with phyllite, slate, and limestone; Pantiange Formation basalt, Cuiyibi Formation siltstone, mudstone, tuff, altered rhyolite intercalated with basalt and limestone; Shizhongshan Formation mudstone and limestone; Jurassic Huakaizuo Formation slate intercalated with sandstone and limestone; Cretaceous Jingxing Formation mudstone and sandstone; Paleogene Meile Formation purple conglomerate and arkose; Yunlong Formation marl interbedded with muddy conglomerate, sandstone, and gypsum; Neogene Sanying Formation conglomerate and claystone interbedded with lignite; Quaternary sediments.
There are three major NS-trending deep faults in the orefield, namely (from west to east) the Kangpu (F3), Yezhi-Xuelongshan (F7), and Qiuduo-Ludian. F3 and F7 are the eastern and western boundary faults, respectively, of the Jiangda-Weixi continental margin arc (Luo et al., 2013). Additionally, there are several NW-trending secondary faults, such as the Miezha (F2), Youluo (F4), Wangxiangtai (F5), Sishituo (F6), Tangshangcun (F9), Pantiange (F10), and Labadi Fault (F11), which are mostly steeply dipping reverse faults.
