Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Sphalerite vs. Anorthite
Both zinc ore Sphalerite and calcium plagioclase feldspar Anorthite have perfect cleavage that will split cleanly if you hit them with a hammer, but only one can claim a larger split of your votes!

Zhuchong iron deposit is a newly discovered large-size skarn high-grade iron deposit within the metallogenic belt in the past two decades, with an explored iron resource of 51 million tons, TFe@50.10 %; accompanied by approximately 50,000 tons of copper metal, along with an associated copper metal of 80,000 tons, and the ratio of iron to copper metal is 197. The orebody is mainly located within the skarn zone between the intrusion and the contact zone of the Yueshan Formation and Nanlinghu Formation dolomitic limestone. The wall rocks of the Zhuchong iron deposit are mainly the Middle Triassic Yueshan Formation siltstone, Tongtoujian Formation siltstone, Yueshan Formation interbedded evaporite layers, brecciated marble, and thin to medium-thick layered dolomite marble, etc. The No. 1 magnetite orebody in the Zhuchong Fe deposit is the largest in size, accounting for 81 % of the iron ore resources. However, the associated copper ore grade is not high (0.18 %), with a metal quantity of just over 7,000 tons, resulting in a higher iron-to-copper ratio.

The Zhuchong Fe (Cu) deposit contains 50.3 Mt of iron with an average TFe grade of 50.1 wt%. There are 82 ore bodies at Zhuchong. The main orebody, called the No.1 orebody, has a lenticular or tabular morphology and accounts for 81.1 % of the total reserves of this deposit. Ore section I has a strike length of about 1,040 m (m), a horizontal projection width of 250 m to 919 m, and an average ore body thickness of 26.9 m. The occurrence elevation of the ore body is between −826 m and −1324 m. The overall shape of the ore body is large lenticular and layer-like. The ore body is mainly located in the contact zone between the Yueshan Formation and the diorite body, part of which occurs in the diorite body, and part of it is located near the marble xenolith. The ore-forming processes of the Zhuchong skarn Fe-Co deposit can be categorized into five stages: early skarn stage, late skarn stage, oxide stage, Fe-Cu sulfide stage, and Pb-Zn sulfide stage.
