Santa Rita Mine
A former lead-zinc-silver mine near the head of Hunter Creek. Mineralization is lenses in parallel brecciated zones in phyllite, quartzite, and dolomite of the Stensgar Dolomite of the Proterozoic Deer Trail Group. The richest ore was from the surface down to the 100' depth. Development consisted of around 3500' of underground workings and a pit. It produced 27,000 tons from 1903-1958 containing a reported 2,700,000 lbs Pb, 551,000 lbs Zn, and 98,000 oz Ag. Some ore was also produced from later open pit operations.
