Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

The large well-formed crystals of "allanite-(La)" from the Nueva Vizcaya Mine, Spain published by Del Tanago et al. (2002) as “macroscopic La-dominant allanite and REE-rich epidote crystals” are zoned crystals containing allanite with Ce>La, allanite with La>Ce, and REE-rich epidote. Only thin zones within the crystals contain sufficient REE to qualify as allanite-(La), and the La dominant material was too scarce to adequately describe allanite-(La) as a new mineral.

Formula: ◻Ca2(Mg4.5-2.5Fe0.5-2.5)Si8O22(OH)2
Habit: Large prismatic to acicular crystals to 2cm
Colour: Dark green
Description: Common in the skarn deposits, as late-stage minerals replacing pyroxene.
Albite
Formula: Na(AlSi3O8)
Habit: Clusters of tabular crystals in parallel growths up to 4cm
Allanite-(Ce)
Formula: (CaCe)(AlAlFe2+)O[Si2O7][SiO4](OH)
