The Tom Reed vein, which, broadly considered, includes the American, Aztec, Big Jim, original Tom Reed or Benjamin Harrison, and United Eastern veins, has been by far the most productive in the district, having yielded to the end of 1921 gold and silver to the value of nearly $20,000,000 (period values). The course of the vein is approximately NW. The vein in the Aztec and Big Jim workings dips 70º to 75ºNE, whereas the Mallery fault, striking nearly parallel with the vein, dips 60º to 70ºSW.
