Most minerals are found near the shore in Halsebukta, 0,5 km from the road 882 between Breiviksbotn and Hasvik, near the farm Haraldseng. Minerals occur in carbonatite (søvite) veins, nepheline syenite-gneis and malignite (shonkinite). Up to 70% of the malignite may concist of andradite (variety melanite). Crystals up to 5-6 cm across of andradite (var melanite) are known from this locality.
The Breivikbotn Carbonatite Complex (which the Haraldseng-carbonatite is a part of) consists of carbonatite, malignite (shonkinite), nepheline syenite, aplitic syenite and pyroxenite. It occurs as a deformed, 500 m wide body hosted within the Klubben Psammite, a metasedimentary unit of the Kalak Nappe Complex (cited from Roberts et al. 2010).

Geochronology
Mineralization age: Neoproterozoic to Devonian : 574 ± 5 Ma to 372 ± 98 MaImportant note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
