White county, along with Lumpkin County, were 2 of the richest gold producing counties in Georgia. Over 3 million pennyweights (1 Troy ounce = 20 pennyweights) of gold were produced in White county. A search of old documents turn up many localities and would be a good source for any collector and prospector to start their search with.
